VAN ZANDT COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL

Balloon Release 2008

The Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial relies on the generous donations of the public and civic-minded businesses to raise funds to construct and maintain the Memorial Plaza. On Labor Day, September 1, 2008, we held our Second Annual Balloon Release fundraiser at the Veterans Memorial Site in Canton, Texas.

Here are the many volunteer workers that helped make the Balloon Release a success.

Balloon Workers

Persons who purchased a balloon filled out a card with the name of a soldier, living or deceased, active or inactive. We attached these cards to the balloons with a ribbon. On the back of the cards we asked for a prayer to be made for the person listed and write a short note back to us so we may track where the ballons ended flight. The following is a list of those cards found:

1. Trent Miller - Kemp

2. Al Mayberry - Combine

3. Marvin Skinner - Ennis

4. Adam Ellison - Ennis

5. Jacob Travis - Ennis

6. Charles Allen Wright - Ennis

7. Scot Sanders - Ennis

8. Fred Wheeler - Ennis

9. Sgt Michael Ingleman - Ennis

10. Gary Jorgense - Peel Town Scurry

11. Tyler Skidmore - Hillsboro (111 Miles)

12. Virgil Melton Sr. - Kemp

13. Domingo Andriani - Ennis

14. Ethan Vaughan - Kemp
